((HT: Sportsnet.ca))
Pop singer Celine Dion is considering a joint bid for the Montreal Canadiens and Bell Centre with Quebecor president Karl Peladeau and Seagram heir Stephen Bronfman, according to a report in The Globe and Mail.
The report said that team owner George Gillett, who announced recently he is putting the franchise up for sale, is already into a second round of bids for the club and arena. He purchased the two for US$185 million nine year ago.
An source close to the sale process said potential buyers now have full access to financial data on the team and the Bell Centre.
Forbes magazine recently value the Canadiens at $335 million.
