Weylandt Dies In Giro D'Italia

((HT: NBCUniversalSports))

Belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt died after a crash at the Giro d'Italia. It's the first death in a major cycling race in 16 years- almost a year to the day of his stage win in the Giro in 2010.

He fell during a high-speed descent and was motionless and bleeding heavily on the roadside before paramedics tried to resuscitate him.

"He was unconscious with a fracture of the skull base and facial damage," Giro doctor Giovanni Tredici said. "After 40 minutes of cardiac massage we had to suspend the resuscitation because there was nothing more we could do."

Here's the highlights of the Stage and Weylandt's fall...

The Leopard-Trek team is deciding whether or not to finish the race...
