3 Tennessee Football Players Arrested

As if the Tennessee Volunteers needed more negative attention there is more. Three Vol players were arrested early Thursday and charged with armed robbery by Knoxville police.

The 3 Tennessee players are freshman defensive back Michael Edwards, freshman wide receiver Janzen Jackson and another freshman wide receiver Nukeese Richardson (pictured). The same Nukeese Richardson that was a hot shot recruit in Florida that originally committed to the Gators but then changed his mind and headed to Tennessee.

A fourth suspect, Marie Montmarquet, also faces similar charges.

According to Knoxville police, two men were sitting in a car at a convenience store when one of the four individuals approached the pair with a semi-automatic handgun.

WATE-TV reports that the man opened the driver's door and ordered the three to "Give me everything you have." A second suspect went to another door and said "Give me everything you got."

WATE-TV also reports that Knoxville police using descriptions from the victims, spotted the suspects near Gibbs Hall on the University of Tennessee campus.

The four were taken back to the scene of the crime and victims identified Edwards and Richardson as the two who demanded money.

“At this time we are currently evaluating the circumstances surrounding an incident involving Mike Edwards, Janzen Jackson and Nu’Keese Richardson," UT Athletic Director Mike Hamilton said in a statement from UT Thursday Morning. "Any decisions or comments regarding their status will not be made until the evaluations are complete.”

Richardson was already in Lane Kiffin's doghouse for missing a practice last week. Jackson was disciplined as well for violating team rules.
