Long Live Remote Control!!!! Ken Ober passes away

For those of us who grew up with the original version of MTV...you know the time period where they did pretty much "All" music videos; it's a sad day. The host of MTV's 1st real foray into original programming in 1987, the Show "Remote Control" passed away over night. The name of that host, Ken Ober.

Ober presided over a strange show that was a mix of pop culture, trivia, skits and game show. If you ever saw the show, you might remember that it launched the career of both Adam Sandler and Dennis Leary. It also featured comic Colin Quinn a mainstay on the comedy circuit. And who can forget the "Eye Candy"...the luscious Kari...Kari Wurher who went on to eventually have a career in some "interesting" movies.

The story from mtv.com is RIGHT HERE
More from the LA Times RIGHT HERE

Ober. who was 52, apparently passed away at his Santa Monica home. He reportedly had been feeling ill over the weekend and when he was not heard from, authorities went to his home and found him there. They plan an autopsy to find out exactly what happened.

Anyone who ever saw the show will surely remember it. It was a manic compilation of crazy humor and jokes, plus college age contestants all in search of some money. Ober presided over it all with a dry, self-deprecating wit and really kind of was the base of a show that most over the age of 35 who watched MTV back in it's "TRUE" hey day will remember with a big smile.

Here is a promo for the show from the You Tube:

Enjoy a "Young" Adam Sandler...
