Kareem's Ultimate Sky Hook

Former NBA Superstar and Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been diagnosed with a very rare form of Leukemia. The NBA's all-time leading scorer revealed in an interview yesterday that he has Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. The good news is that it isn't considered a fatal or debilitating illness, with a routine of monthly checks and medication, it's treatable.

The big man was one of my favorites as a kid, though he wasn't incredibly personable during his career, he was an incredible force on the basketball floor. He became more open as he got towards the end of his career, a career spent with the Milwaukee Bucks originally, but more famously with the LA Lakers of the Showtime era in the 1980's. Now 62, he is a consulting assistant with the Lakers and is frequently at the games and helps coach the teams big men. We wish him the best and from what it sounds like, he's not going anywhere soon and that's good to hear.

Take a look at perhaps the Big Man's greatest acting role, the movie classic Airplane. We were looking for the entire "Roger Murdoch" scene with Joey, but the trailer is the best we can do. Thanks, You Tube:
