College Basketball 09-10: The Big 12

BIG 12 BASKETBALL PREVIEW

The Big 12 is a strong league this year and in it just might be the strongest this season. Kansas and Texas not only should battle it out for the conference title but for the national championship too. Oklahoma will be OK minus Blake Griffin and Mark Turgeon has Texas A&M on the rise.

BEST TEAM IN THE BIG 12:

Kansas: This was a tough pick between Kansas and Texas but the Jayhawks are damn good. Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins are 2 of the best players in college basketball. You have to love the way Collins runs the point for the Jayhawks, he’s tough and aggressive on both sides of the court. Collins could be cashing NBA paychecks this season but decided to stay in Lawrence. Cole Aldrich could be living the good life to in the NBA but chose to return to Kansas for a title run. Aldrich is the top returning big man in college basketball and he can score and rebound however, Aldrich is such a fierce presence inside he can alter the offensive game of KU’s opponent. Oh by the way, Bill Self brought in another top recruiting class including Xavier Henry.

BEST PLAYER IN THE BIG 12: Willie Warren – Oklahoma

Warren spent last season as Blake Griffin’s understudy and this year he will be the go-to guy for the Sooners. What I like is the way Warren creates with the ball in his hands. He can either slash to the hole or knock down the pull-up J. Warren is a defenders nightmare with all the moves and shots in his arsenal.
