More Dirty Dozen (An OSG Staple)

More Conference Fun!

And we have now officially started the funnest time of the College Football Year, that time where conference battles become heated and we find out just how freaking stupid College Preseason Football Polls are. So here is the best of this week:

1. Alabama (I just don't buy Texas just yet and 'Bama is still the best team I've seen to this point-subject to change. This Week: 'Bama 31, Ole Miss 17)

2. Texas (Beating Oklahoma was pretty good, but now you get Missouri, get past them and we may need to talk. This Week: Missouri 34, Texas 31)

3. Penn State (Ok, maybe the fighting Joe Pa's are for real. Go figure. This Week: State Penn 31, Michi-can't 10)

4. Oklahoma (Can someone explain why they lost last week? Maybe they weren't nearly as good as we thought. This Week: Oklahoma 27, Mangino the Hut-Kansas 14)

5. Florida (They were scary good against LSU, but I'm not convinced they can do it every week. This Week: Florida 127, Bye Week 0)

6. Oklahoma State (Uh, Coach Gundy, it's your wife calling. You might want to let her know not to call around, say 3pm on Saturday. This Week: Ok.State 41, Baylor 13)

7. USC (Again, I'm not convinced. It's hard to get past losing to Oregon State, though I don't think they will worry much this week. This Week: Trojan Horses 51, Wash. State 7)

8. Texas Tech (This won't be permanent either, they can't outscore everyone and they haven't played the "Big" boys yet. This Week: Texas Tech 41, Texas A&M 21)

9. BYU (I don't think they will get much higher because they don't see defenses like say and SEC team. This Week: BYU 24, TCU 14)

10. Georgia (So begins the gauntlet for them. They need to make some sort of statement and soon, because the season is almost lost. This Week: Georgia 35, Vandy 14)

11. Missouri (That lack of Defense cost them last week. They catch a break because Texas had to play Oklahoma last week. See #2)

12. LSU (Wow, the Florida game was a surprise. Maybe the defense isn't as good as advertised? Maybe the preseason middle of the pack rankings were correct? This Week: LSU 27, South Carolina 23)

Nelson Notes: Texas, USC, Alabama, Penn State, Oklahoma, Florida, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Georgia, Missouri, LSU, and Boise State

Again, much like last week, this will shake out after this week. Can't wait to find out how.

Bottom of the Barrel

5. Tennessee (Ha, ha. This is me and a whole lot of others snickering. This week: Mississippi State 10, Tennessee 7)

4. Michigan (Excuse me while I laugh. Maybe now they won't be in the Top 25 every preseason, bitches. This Week: Penn State 31, Michi-cant 10)

3. Syracuse (Can someone explain how Greg Robinson is still the coach here? Somebody? Anybody? Bueller? This Week: South Florida 112, Syracuse 3)

2. Washington State (Only because they won a game. Even if it was a 1-AA team. What is up with the crappy football in the Pacific Northwest? This Week: USC 51, Washed-Up State 7)

1. Washington (God they suck. I don't know if there is really anything else that can be said. I think it might be piling on. This Week: Oregano State 35, Wash and Wear 13)

Nelson Still Notes: North Texas, Michigan, Syracuse, Washington State, U-Dub, and Syracuse four more times just because...

"Paging Mr. Kiffin, Mister Lane Kiffin...Please report to the Orange Courtesy Phone..."

And there you have it. Enjoy this weeks games. Yes, I know, I was 6-4 last week, but that would keep me from the Bottom of the Barrel, wouldn't it?
