So Much For Savard- Four And Out

Only four games in to the new National Hockey League season, the Chicago Blackhawks of new are acting like the Chicago Blackhawks of old- firing head coach Denis Savard ((pictured, maybe, in happier times, thanks globesports.com)) and bringing in ((magically)) Joel Quenneville.

Shocked, aren't you... those of us at OSG HQ scream "set up."

The team was coming off its first win of the year and a 1-2-1 start out of the blocks. Rocky Wirtz, son of long-time owner, perpetual cheapskate, and instant alienator of fans Bill Wirtz is now in charge. He's thinking that with the likes of Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and all the other big-season pick-ups that General Manager Dale Tallon was able to grab- it's win now or else...

Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail brings up the point that when Quenneville was hired as a pro scout last month, why would he even take the gig...?

We now knows the answer to that one, don't we...?
