The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel...The Conference Champ Edition

Well, we finally made it. It's the last sort-of full week of College Football. The one week trumped only by "Bowl Week", it's none other than almost everyone's favorite...It's "Conference Championship Week"!!!

By now we know what is at stake, which for most teams is which bowl are they going to. That however is already sorting itself out even though they are supposed to wait until the games are finished this week. But we all know how honorable and above board all the Bowl Games are now...don't we?

So in the Spirit of the Season, we will deviate from the Dirty Dozen Clips (we've run out) and move on to something more becoming of this time of year....something more befitting our friends who run that corrupt and illegal franchise the BCS...I give you...THE GRINCH!!!! Thanks You Tube:

Thanks Grinch! Now as Casey is fond of saying: "It's on with the Countdown!!!"

**CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP PICKS TO COME AFTER RANKINGS**

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Florida 12-0 (Did anyone else feel slightly nautious watching the CBS lovefest with the Tebow last Saturday? Granted the game was a blowout and there wasn't much else to talk about...but still...come on, he is an excellent College Player...period. I better stop here before I'm sentenced to time in hell for criticism. )
2) Alabama 12-0 (Sometimes its better to be lucky then good...don't cha think there Nicky boy? Good luck this week with Mark Ingram hurting. You are lucky that you were going against the Chizik last week, not exactly known for his coaching acumen. The Urban-ator may not be so stupid.)
3) Texas 12-0 (Again, oh...oh so lucky. They don't win pretty but hey, I guess they are still winning. It just really sucks that they will get the BCS Championship berth by default. No, I don't think they will lay an egg this week.)
4) TCU 12-0 (It's a shame that they aren't in the SEC or Big 12 because they are better than the teams in either conference. This America, should be one of your BCS Championship game teams. Amazingly, Gary Patterson is going to sign a 10-year contract to stay put which should change some of the carousel teams thoughts)
5) Cincinnati 11-0 (The questions have already started for Brian Kelly. I really don't know why he has to be asked today...right now. He's not going to be hired today...or tomorrow. It's too bad that most of the national guys have already given him the job. He would be better off staying at Cincinnati because Notre Dame is the "Deathbed" of coaching...IMO. This Week: Cincinnati 40, Pitt 37)
6) Boise State 12-0 (The most unimpressive 12-0 team in Football. They get points though for being 12-0, not everyone can say that. No, I don't think they should be in the championship game but yes...THEY DESERVE A BCS GAME. This Week: Boise St. 50, New Mexico St. 21)
7) Oregon 9-2 (They are still suffering from 2 bad days. This is a good team that you don't want to mess with in a bowl game. They probably will be in the Rose Bowl. This Week: Oregon 41, Oregon St. 29)
8) Ohio St. 10-2 (I still don't understand why there season is already over. They have been unimpressive all season long and are somewhat overrated. Don't look for them to win the Rose Bowl either.)
9) Pittsburgh 9-2 (Tough lost last week at West Va. This is another underrated team. They play in the Big East which got no early love but has had at times 4 teams in the Top 25 this season...should we question the alleged experts? Yes, I think that we should. This Week: See #5)
10) Georgia Tech 10-2 (Unless you've spent time living in Georgia and following this team, you wouldn't understand how they could lose last week. It also speaks a bit to the lack of good football in the ACC as well. Look for The Johnson to push them harder in the coming weeks, they still have a very good upside in the future)
11) Va. Tech 9-3 (I refuse like the big boy pollsters to put 3 Big 10 teams in my list. They along with the ACC are the 2 weakest power conferences in all the land. That being said, Va. Tech is probably a little better than the 9-3 record will suggest. They got better over the course of the season which is why they get this spot over a team in the 10)
12) BYU 10-2 (They get this for Max Hall actually showing some spunk last week. They are normally such a robotic team, it's nice to see there is some personality in Provo. Again, they move up because I refuse to put Iowa or Penn St. here, neither of those two are worthy...and I can prove it!)

Conference Championships:

SEC Championship: The game being called this years "Game of the Century". I don't know about that, but it will be an awfully physical slugfest from 2 very physical teams. Don't look for a lot of points scored. Any writer or "Expert" who says the loser should still have a shot at making the BCS Championship should have there keyboard privileges revoked FOREVER!!! Prediction: Florida 24, Alabama 19)
ACC Championship:
After last week, this game should be canceled. But it won't. The winner gets to go to the Orange Bowl, but will anyone other than their fans notice? It should be a fairly entertaining game. Prediction: Ga. Tech 35, Clemson 28)
Big 12 Championship:
Yawn. Why do they play this? Why do the teams in the 12 North send a representative? They always lose. Always. That won't change this year. Prediction: Texas 31, Nebraska 10)

The Bottom of the Barrel:

5) New Mexico 1-11 (Just because. They finish with a whimper against TCU. They've been pretty bad all year long. The reprieve last week was a reward for winning a game. They don't deserve anything more.)
4) Washington St. 1-11 (Paul Wulff may be the worst coach in the history of Division 1 football. He's won 3 games in 3 years. The obvious question is how did he make it 3 years? This program has become one of the worst in all of College Football...at any level. I can't even come up with something funny or witty to mock them with...they are just bad Jerry, bad.)
3) Miami, OH 1-11 (The other Miami. It's kind of like being the other White Meat only a lot less tasty. Or maybe the should be considered the discount made in China knockoff version of the real Miami? Either way, they earned this spot...the easy way. 'nuff said)
2) Eastern Michigan 0-12 (Wow. What else is there to say. You kind of don't want to kick people when they are down but geez. I guess it is time for rebuilding...or a really big fire (as long as nobody gets hurt), something...anything to wash their hands of this.)
1) THIS YEARS CHAMP!!! Western Kentucky 0-11 (Even if they win there final game. They've earned this. They are without a doubt the poster child for teams in 1-AA who think they can make the jump to the big boys with ease. Sorry guys...big difference. This Week: Ark. St. 41, W. Ky 31)

Last Week: 11-4 (A good way to finish) Season Total: 136-42 (Pretty Impressive)
