NHL Wants Coyotes To Fly US Air

Instead of Jerry Moyes own chartered service, Swift Air.

According to the Wall Street Journal's Eric Morath, part of the National Hockey League's "war and Peace"-sized filings in US Banruptcy Court is for the team to fly chartered flights from US Airways instead of Moyes own service.

"...the Coyotes spent $2.6 million to charter Swift Air LLC jets.

According to court papers, Moyes is fighting with league and team General Manager Don Maloney to keep the Coyotes flying with Swift Air, part of his transportation business empire. The NHL said the US Airways deal represents “a substantial savings,” although the exact cost of the service was not specified in court papers."

Of course it wasn't...

Swift Air’s Boeing 737... is fitted with 68 first-class seats and luxury amenities such as power outlets and extensive catering services.

And it's also an asset that Moyes can use to shift funds from one aspect of his hemorrhaging business to another and write off some expenditures...
