SEC's Doing Some Tweaking Of Media Policy

The SEC has heard us, the members of the media, and they are listening. The conference plans to do a little tweaking of the new media policy that had us all bent out of shape.

The new media policy from the SEC limits TV stations from showing highlights past 72 hours after the conclusion of the game, forbids news media from showing practices and press conference video on line and in order to receive a credential to an SEC event you must sign off on the new policy.

All this to drive on-line traffic to the conferences' and member schools web sites.

"I'm confident there will be some changes to the policy," SEC Associate Commissioner Charles Bloom said.

I would think there will be. One of those possible changes the SEC is looking into the clause that states the media member must be a full-time salaried employee of the organization. You stringers, free-lancers and college kids should be back in mix.

Of course the SEC's new partner, XOS Technologies , will need to agree with the changes.
