Can Philadelphia fans behave worse than this?

((ht: big lead/nbcphiladelphia))

If you ever needed proof that Philadelphia fans are the worst of the worst, we now have it. This past Wednesday, they did something that if you didn't read the account or see, you would never believe.

Several fans were ejected and one forced himself to vomit on an off-duty police officer and his kids who were in the stands watching the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Washington Nationals.

To say that this is wrong would be possibly the largest understatement of all-time. Truly, if there was ever a case that exemplifies why there shouldn't be alcohol allowed at sporting events, this is it.

While we do understand that fans have a right to enjoy the game and either cheer or boo players and teams...there is nothing...absolutely nothing that can justify this.

Most of us have attended games and either seen or experienced unruly fans. A lot of stadiums now have family friendly areas. It just is really pathetic to have a need for such places. There are ZERO....ZERO reasons that fans have a right to yell out curse words at players. Argue the 1st amendment all you want, anyone who does it should be immediately ejected from the park.

To their credit, it appears that is what the ushers at Citizens Bank ballpark did. However they missed one. A 21-year old, who we are quite sure was drunk.

Thankfully, while his alleged friends just were asked to leave the stadium, the 21-year old, Matthew Clemmens was not only ejected, he was taken directly to jail and charged with assaulting the officer and his family. Mr. Clemmens..."Fat, Drunk and Stupid is no way to go through life".

Here is the TV Version of the story done by the folks at WCAU-TV in Philadelphia:

Agreed. Got angry just reading this story. After reading it I had to repost it and hopefully the *&%$^ clown will get the ridicule that he so richly deserves.

Makes me feel much better being from Baltimore after I read about Michael Clemmens, fan of your beloved Phillies, last week here – http://oriolesshallreturn.blogspot.com/2010/04/philadelphia-city-of-thuggerly-love.html
We might be bad fans of a bad team, but you guys are totally outta control.
