Rooney says Ben will be punished....

Pittsburgh Steeler president Art Rooney II, made as close, we guess, to a definitive statement about his teams starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger as we will be getting right now.

According to Mr. Rooney, "There will be punishment for Ben, but we will coordinate it with the commissioners office". "I've made it clear to Ben that he did not live up to our standards and that there will be consequences and Ben has indicated that he's willing to accept that".

He also added that "The league has asked to take a couple of weeks to review things, so we don't anticipate anything happening until after the draft".

There had been tons of speculation, particularly today when this press conference was announced, as to what would be going on. We can draw several conclusions from it. The team, as much as it is grimacing from the PR hit, is willing to give Roethlisberger a chance to rehabilitate his image. One we might add has taken on copious amounts of water.

Two, they will live with whatever the league and commissioner Roger Goodell think is best. And three, that if Roethlisberger wants to stay in Pittsburgh he will need to clean up his act...fast.

Overall, there were not any huge revelations, nor did we expect them. We can certainly say that the Steelers, between this and the trading of Santonio Holmes are extremely worried about their reputation. They should be.
