Roethlisberger's Problems Aren't Over....

While the whole sporting world (us included) breathlessly reported that Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wouldn't be charged for his "Issue" in central Georgia, his story continues today. Oh...and lest we forget his scripted, vague apology to his fans and teammates last night.

Today brings a whole new set of adventures for Big Ben. His day began with a field trip to the Principal's office in New York. He got to sit down this afternoon and discuss why he is having trouble acting like a grown up with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

If you read the story, there is also something else that doesn't bode well for Roethlisberger. A lawyer, one Harry Manion, an managing partner at the Firm of Cooley, Manion and Jones in Boston came forward on the Dennis and Callahan show on Boston Sports radio station WEEI this morning to say that there was another issue of Big Ben perpetrating a similar act upon another young woman at a different bar/nightclub, but she declined to press charges and the case never went anywhere.

As an added bonus, we have this. Ty Ballou, president of PLB Sports and maker of "Big Ben's Beef Jerky" (insert joke here), announced this morning that his company has dropped "Big Ben" from the beef jerky (ok, that was weak, I know).

Said Ballou "In light of the facts presented at yesterday's press conference by District Attorney Fred Bright concerning the recent sexual assault allegations against Ben Roethlisberger, we believe that it is in our best interest to terminate our agreement with Ben at this time. We wish Ben all the best in the future as he faces these challenging issues" (thanks WTAE-TV).

No word on the jerky's reaction.

We are awaiting word on what the NFL will do with Roethlisberger, there has been tons of speculation that a suspension is forthcoming. We also know that the Steelers are considering doing the same thing. We will let you know as soon as we know.

1720 UPDATE: From Florio and PFT

Manion has, officially, more-than backed off his statement from the "Dennis and Callahan" show this morning...

First, Manion's office sends an e-mail to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "Mr. Manion did not mean to express or imply that he has any information that Mr. Roethlisberger engaged in any illegal behavior."

Manion later elaborated directly. "I don't have any details at all," Manion told the Post-Gazette. "I was retained by a family. It went nowhere. I have no specifics. All I know is it involved an evening with Ben Roethlisberger, and I never got any of the details. I offered it [on the radio show] only because it was such a similar situation -- a young woman at a nightclub asked, invited into a VIP area."

Similar...??? Yes... very...
Establishes another possible element to the trend that seems to be developing...???
Yes... very...

Direct linkage...??? Not so much...
But it does make you think...
Doesn't it...
