Terry Fox's Marathon Of Hope: 30 Years Later

Terry Fox was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at the age of 18, and because of a lack of research and understanding of the disease thirty years ago, survival rates were only about fifty-percent.

Fox had to have his right leg amputated just above the knee and was fitted with a prosthetic.

Terry also had an idea to raise awareness and funding for cancer research within Canada- to run a marathon every day and cross his homeland.

His idea captivated a nation, and has now through the Terry Fox Foundation, raised close to half-a-billion dollars for those goals that were set in 1980.

Fox never finished his marathon, but others run them every year for him.

Chris Connolly has a report that aired on the 25th anniversary of the original marathon... it's required viewing...

Some of the HQ are members of the Foundation, which can be found here, if you're so inclined to learn more about it...

All we ever ask here at the HQ is that if you believe in something; chase after it, hold onto it, and have faith in it...
