This really doesn't surprise anyone here...
Shannon Briggs has sued his management company, claiming he has not been paid most of the $750,000 promised to him for last year's title bout against Vitali Klitschko that left him in the hospital for almost two weeks.
The lawsuit filed in New York state court seeks unspecified damages from The Empire Sports and Entertainment and its executives.
Briggs lost last October in a unanimous decision, and the suit says Briggs has only received $25,000 for the fight so far.
Briggs also claims The Empire's executives maneuvered to improperly eliminate his ownership stake in the company. Shelly Finkel, Empire CEO, calls the suit "ridiculous."
Here's the last round of that fight...
Briggs looks like he was out on his feet in that last round, and the sport is so messed up from top to bottom that the interest level keeps retreads around fighting for titles long after the expiration date.
Briggs, Holyfield, etc...
You know where we're coming from here... and if Briggs was smart enough to start Empire and go into management himself, he probably should have stayed there.
