Bob Sheppard Passes At 99

You always knew when you were at Yankee Stadium...

The HQ has covered their fair share of All-Star Games and World Series in the Bronx, and Sheppard's tones made you feel at home. They also reminded you of the history of the sport.

If you didn't get goose bumps when Sheppard spoke, you simply weren't human.

Sheppard passed away at the age of 99- we think... One of the aspects of Sheppard's privacy was that none of us really knew how old he was...

Because, it simply wasn't important...

Here's the tribute that ran inside Yankee Stadium on "Bob Sheppard Day" in 2000.

Here's Buster Olney's recollections from the four-letter...

Derek Jeter had it right. And Sheppard will always introduce the shortstop...
As it should be...
