You can bet a 8,000 pound weight was lifted off on Dabo Swinney's shoulders when starting quarterback Kyle Parker told him he was returning to Clemson.
I spent the entire day on the Clemson campus today and it was the talk of Tigertown. Whether it was in the various shops in downtown Clemson or in the local restaurant, Parker's decision was welcome news.
"We are very excited to have Kyle back." Swinney said in a statement released by Clemson University. "Whenever you have a returning starter at quarterback who led you to the Atlantic Division title, that is a real plus for your team. He is dynamic athlete who brings a lot of positives to our offense."
"When I talked with him late last night, he was excited to get back and get started."
Parker was in a envious position with plenty of leverage during negotiations. He had set a July 20th deadline as to whether he would play football or not. Parker decided the lure of another season at quarterback is too much.
"I was in a situation where I couldn't make a bad decision." Parker said in a statement. "All my options are still on the table at this point. The only option I have ruled out is playing baseball exclusively for the Colorado Rockies right now. Negotiations will continue with the Rockies, but I will play football at Clemson this fall."
All Clemson Tiger fans are breathing a sigh of relief.
Here's what you are getting back Tiger Paw fans. Parker delivers the winner last year at Miami. (Thanks ESPN on ABC/Youtube.com)
