Sylvain Chavanel won the seventh stage of the Tour de France and recaptured the yellow jersey as the race entered the mountains over the weekend.
Riding for team Quick Step, he also won the second stage, and completed the 101-mile route Saturday from Tournus to Station des Rousses ski station, with six low to mid- grade climbs along the route.
Chavanel began the stage in fifth place 61 seconds behind Fabian Cancellara.
The main race contenders, including Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong, were near the front of the peloton about two minutes behind Chavanel.
