Butch Davis Gets Testy

Especially, when a reporter asks the same question over and over when Davis doesn't want to answer the question asked over and over...

Chris Hawkins, the alleged middleman in the Miami-agent fiasco involving a decent portion of college football players including the University of North Carolina players, is now up on other unrelated charges.

He now faces a felony drug charge from a 2009 arrest during a traffic stop- officially, he is charged with felony trafficking of cocaine and misdemeanor marijuana possession. The former North Carolina and is scheduled to be in court next month.

A Georgia State Patrol report said authorities initially stopped Hawkins for not wearing a seat belt while driving a truck carrying furniture.

Sure... okay...
Sam I am...

Here's some of the fun from the gathering after practice today...
It starts at the 3:45 mark with JP Giglio of the Raleigh News and Observer...

Cornered Rat!

Good for the reporter to hold his ground. Most of these coaches go into the bullying technique. Stare downs, raising the voice, etc... Hey Butch, you cheated, you got caught. Deny and whine is for babies.

What are you talking about? If anything the reporter went in to "bully" mode raising his voice etc... BD remained professional throughout that entire thing. BTW what proof do you have that BD cheated?

great job by both. the questions need to be asked and the reporter got them out into the open. butch did a good job of not flying off the handle when pressed on a subject he had no intention of talking about in public.

we need more of this.

^^ If my "remained professional" you mean acted scared and was hoping another reporter would answer a question and change the subject then you're right. Butch knows this investigation is going to get worse and all he wants to do is deny his involvement before the real **** hits the fan.

Are you kidding me?? The reporter is obviously trying to get Butch's ire. He has been writing inflammatory material in his newspaper, unsubstantiated by the way, concerning the investigation. Butch answered his question 3 times yet he used that as a springboard to ask if he has ever been in the weightroom around the unc players and if that was "prudent" (I think he said that). I do not think that coach Davis can monitor everyone that comes in to the UNC facilities 24/7. By the way, Chris Hawkins, the "runner" in question was kicked off the UNC football team before Butch ever arrived. He did not finish his career at UNC, rather at some DII school.

That fellow is a Jerry Springer wanabe.
Why push the coach in that situation?

He is after a headline and has ulterior motives. If I were Davis, I would ignore him for a while and not receive any of his questions.

This was not the place to discuss situations like this. The question should be answered yes, but not here.

Agree with what was posted at 2:07 pm on the 17th. While Davis was obviously perturbed and defensive he generally kept his poise. The reporter did what is expected of reporters. After he elicited an from Davis that implicitly comfirmed Hawkins had been in the facility, he yielded. The other reporters were only interested in serving up the usual ration of pablum.
