Jackie Williams fought for, and won, a 44-yard touchdown on the final play of regulation, giving Alabama-Birmingham a 34-33 comeback victory over Troy.
Williams made a leaping catch at the goal line from quarterback Bryan Ellis. The touchdown was the end result of a 99-yard drive that began with 1:09 remaining and UAB without any timeouts.
The Blazers, now 1-2, trailed 23-0 with 6:35 left in the first half and were still behind 33-20 with nine minutes to play. Ellis hit Williams with a 36-yard touchdown pass to close the gap to six points with 8:34 remaining in regulation time.
Turns out UAB didn't even need free football like their neighbors to the southeast.
Here's Jeff Shearer with the highlights, thanks to our friends at WSFA-TV in Montgomery. There are two other bonus games in the package for you as well...
