They were the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. But when the city won a bid to attract a Major League Soccer franchise, the new Portland Timbers franchise wanted a soccer-specific place to play.
That left the Beavers out of a home... and up for sale.
Some fans wore black to Monday's season finale against the Las Vegas 51s, which the Beavers won 6-5. The team had been around since, for the most part, 1903...
