Rockies Nicasio Has Neck Surgery

**UPDATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STORY**

Rockies pitcher Juan Nicasio had neck surgery to stabilize a fracture after he was hit in the head by a line drive by the Washington Nationals Ian Desmond...

The team said in a statement he was "resting comfortably."

Rockies athletic trainer Keith Dugger planned to give an update on Nicasio at some point this afternoon.

According to the Denver Post, Nicasio broke his C-1 vertebrae. Doctors apparently inserted 2 pins to stabilize the area and opted to have the surgery as soon as possible with hope it will allow him to pitch again.
