Swinney Nails Audition, Should Be Clemson's New Coach

Dabo Swinney got a 6 game audition as interim head coach of the Clemson Tigers and I would say he nailed it. With the Tigers 31-14 win over in-state rival South Carolina Saturday, Clemson became bowl eligible with a 7-5 record but most importantly, 4-2 in with Swinney calling the shots. Today at Death Valley the fans in unison cheered "Dabo" and "Dabo Swinney" as the final seconds clicked off the clock and the Tiger players gave Swinney a victory ride.

Swinney didn't play it safe once Tommy Bowden left and he took over. Swinney took the bull by the horns getting rid of offensive coordinator Rob Spence the same day Bowden resigned and taking charge of the offense. Clemson's playmakers James Davis, C.J. Spiller & Aaron Kelly got the ball in their hands. The young offensive line, which Bowden worried about before the season kicked off, has thrived under the confident leadership of Swinney.

In short, a program that was hinging on a disastrous season in October has won 4 of their last 5 games and going to a bowl game.

Later this week, Swinney will interview for the head coaching position at Clemson. That seems like a formality. The Tigers have their man already.

It is of OSG's opinion that Dabo Swinney will become the head coach of Clemson.
