Atlanta Hawks owner Michael Gearon has been fined $25,000 for public comments made in violation of the NBA’s anti-tampering rules, it was announced today by Joel Litvin, NBA President of League and Basketball Operations.
The AJC's Kristi Swartz reminds us of the comments...
"If somebody came to us tomorrow and said you can have LeBron for max money and it puts you in the luxury tax, I’d do it in a a heartbeat. But am I going to do that for Ilgauskas? Am I going to do it for Jermaine O’Neal? I don’t think so..."
The joke the HQ is hearing is that the NBA only fined Gearon $25-grand because that's all Atlanta Spirit could afford to pay...
