He'll be missed. Don Meredith is one of the guys, one of the icons...associated with the true "Monday Night Football" broadcast.

Meredith, who was 72, was a fixture in the early Monday night games, teaming with Frank Gifford and Howard Cosell, passed away at a Santa Fe, New Mexico hospital, late last night.

More from the Dallas Morning News RIGHT HERE

Meredith was one of the "Original" Dallas Cowboys, their first quarterback. He played in the NFL for 8 years before he retired.

It didn't take long for Meredith, known for being a Cowboy off the field, found his way to the Monday Night Football booth. He was part of the original broadcast in 1970. He had a great sense of humor and didn't have that "Filter" to keep him from saying whatever was on his mind.

He'll be missed, but he won't be forgotten. Dandy Don, rest in peace, we here at OSG Sports tip our hats and salute you sir.
