Southern University has dismissed AD Greg LaFleur, who was arrested last weekend in Houston for allegedly soliciting prostitution from an undercover police officer.
"We think the decision is in the best interest of Southern University," Southern Chancellor Kofi Lomotey said.
Lomotey said he'll recommend to Southern's Board of Supervisors that women's basketball coach Sandy Pugh take over for LaFleur on an interim basis.
Houston police said LaFleur was arrested on a downtown street about 8:30 Sunday night as a result of a reverse prostitution sting by undercover officers. LaFleur was released Monday on $500 bond.
Whatever "reverse prostitution" is...
Lomotey said Southern also will launch a nationwide search for a new athletic director.
