OSG High: A Classic Game To A Classic Michigan High School Football Rivalry. East Grand Rapids Prevails 44-40 Over Lowell

They say up in Michigan the East Grand Rapids - Lowell high school football rivalry is one of the best. Each team won state championships last year, both came into the 2010 game unbeaten and not seriously challenged.

Here's what made this game a classic. The East Grand Rapids Pioneers were down 40-24 at entering the fourth quarter but refused to quit and their rival Lowell Red Arrows. Pioneer quarterback Ryan Elble tossed a pair of fourth quarter touchdown passes and David Drummond scored on a 32 yard run.

A late 4th quarter touchdown pass from Elble to Nick Mulhull from 18 yards sealed the win for the Pioneers.

"How do you explain a game and an atmosphere like this?" East Grand Rapids head coach Peter Stuursma told the Grand Rapids Press. "How do you measure that? How do you put a statement on it other than it's a great, great game.?"

Exactly coach. A great, great game against your rival. Nothing gets better than that in high school sports.
