Decision In 2010: Runyan Runs Over Adler In New Jersey

((HT: NJ.com/Friedman))

In the 3rd Congressional District election in the state of New Jersey ((wherever that is... the HQ isn't up on its gerrymandered districts)), former Philadelphia Eagles tackle Jon Runyan ((the Republican)) knocked off incumbent Democrat John Adler. The seat had been a Republican seat until Adler's election last time around.

The race was the most closely watched and hotly contested in New Jersey.

Adler tried to run as a centrist, talking about how he voted against all of the new health care reform legislation. He criticized Runyan for getting property tax breaks by classifying his estate as "farmland," by keeping four donkeys on the property.

There's some irony in there somewhere. Just think what would have gone down if Runyan had elephants on his farm...

Runyan paired Adler with Nancy Pelosi as his major election hook for the campaign. And there was also some local Jersey scuttlebutt that Adler tried to get a fake Tea Party candidate to pull votes away from Runyan...

It was never proven...
Slick, nonetheless...

Here's an interview with Runyan and Project Shining City about District 3...
