Plea Deal In Jasper Howard Stabbing

John Lomax III appeared in Rockville ((CT)) Superior Court Friday morning. He pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of first-degree manslaughter and could have received up to 20 years in prison. Lomax, instead, gets 18 years.

"I know it hurts, I know you're suffering,"
Lomax said while addressing the court before his sentencing.

Authorities say Lomax, who had been charged with murder, stabbed Howard during a fight between a group of football players and another group that included Lomax. Investigators believe the fight started over a comment a football player made about a woman.

Cases remain pending against seven other men charged in connection with the fight.
