BREAKING: Brian Gregory goes to Georgia Tech

It appears that Georgia Tech has found its next basketball coach. And the alumni are less than thrilled about it.

The new sheriff in town: Brian Gregory, now formerly of Dayton. Gregory apparently informed his team early this morning that he'd be taking the new gig.

Gregory has an NIT and an NCAA bid under his belt with the Flyers, a team that plays in the Atlantic 10. Tech for their part has a lot of work ahead. Former Head Coach Paul Hewitt left a program that has digressed for most of the past 5 seasons including a squad that went a robust 13-18 this past year.

We might also add here, the Tech was spurned late Sunday by Richmond coach Chris Mooney who decided to take a 10-year extension by his current employer. Not that it means he'll be there for 10-more years, but it meant he wasn't leaving now.

It should be an interesting couple of years for Gregory, his Tech team will be playing away from home the next 2 seasons while the school rebuilds their basketball arena.

We'll bring you more on this story later today.
