Why do I care...???
Well, Gainey is a graduating senior for the University of Dayton. Gainey never was able to play because of a heart condition detected just before her freshman season was set to begin. Her older sister had died of a heart attack a few months earlier before school was going to start for Gainey.
The school kept her on scholarship for four seasons as a team assistant. Coach Jim Jabir let her start on senior day and drew up a play for her to get in the books.
Here's her day, thanks to Dayton Athletics...
