No, genius, they already fired Eric Byrnes...
The Arizona Diamondbacks fired general manager Josh Byrnes and manager A.J. Hinch.
Jerry Dipoto was named interim GM and Kirk Gibson interim manager for the remainder of the season.
"I appreciate the commitment and dedication that Josh and A.J. demonstrated during their tenures," D-backs managing general partner Ken Kendrick said. "Their dismissal is a significant decision, but one that we find necessary in order to achieve a direction of winning consistently on the field again."
Arizona has the third-worst record in baseball at 31-48.
Byrnes' contract runs through 2015, and Hinch has a contract through 2012.
No word on whether or not ((and to what extent)) those will be honored...
Here's the best moment of the D-Backs season, thanks to Edwin Jackson..
