A few dozen deals went down on the first day of the NHL free agent market...
Some where head scratchers and some made a whole lot of sense...
The good:
Dan Hamhuis goes from Nashville to Vancouver
New Jersey picking up Henrik Tallinder, Johan Hedberg, and Anton Volchenkov
Chris Mason going to Atlanta from St. Louis
Antero Niittymaki going from Tampa to San Jose
The interesting:
Olli Jokinen goes back to Calgary, and so does Alex Tanguay
Colby Armstrong goes to Toronto from Atlanta
Derek Boogaard goes from Minnesota to the Rangers because Jody Shelley went from the Rangers to Philadelphia
Sergei Gonchar to Ottawa from Pittsburgh
The traded:
Andrej Meszaros to Philly from Tampa
Kris Versteeg to Toronto from Chicago
Andrew Ladd to Atlanta from Chicago
