Financing was dicey-at-best for the AVP volleyball tour this season. All of the doubt and lack of funds came to fruition this afternoon in an e-mail sent by tour CEO Jason Hodell and commish Mike Dodd.
"As of now, the AVP will be closing the doors. It is with a heavy heart that we must tell you that despite a valiant effort by all and a flurry of investor interest, we have been unable to secure the necessary financing to continue the season.”
The decision was made during a conference call among AVP staffers and the members of the board of directors.
The last five events on the tour’s schedule are gone, starting with the August 19th-22nd Manhattan Beach Open— an event the HQ has attended. The other events in Chicago, Cincinnati, San Francisco and Hermosa Beach are also done.
